« Home | How To Overcome Anxiety Over Turbulence »
Panic attacks are generally described as intense bouts of anxiety. Anyone who has experienced a panic attack will know that it really is a terrifying and distressing thing. Symptoms of panic attacks include: severe sweating, increased heartbeat, breathlessness, scary thoughts and heightened senses. Panic attacks last for no longer than 10 minutes. However, they can last just a few seconds, and overcoming panic attacks is not difficult.
Panic attacks are caused by two things. The first is psychological, generally caused by a lack of assertiveness or a cautious view of the world. The second cause is pharmacological, with a lot of anxiety being caused by drug-use.
Treating anxiety attacks can be simple. A successful way of overcoming panic attacks is by Cognitive Behavior Therapy. This is a combination of psychological and pharmacological treatment. Treatment is usually a mixture of psychological techniques and anti-anxiety drugs. This can be expensive, however, and isn't proven to be effective. Hypnotherapy for panic attacks is widely reported to be a successful method of overcoming panic attacks However many have reported it to be useless. Besides Cognitive Behavior Therapy and hypnotherapy there are also many successful products created by former panic/anxiety attack sufferers who have overcome their anxiety using their own methods.
I myself have my own way of treating my anxiety attacks. I don't use hypnotherapy or drugs, just simple reassurance. It really works! When I have a panic attack I just tell myself to calm down, imagine that it's just a panic attack, it'll be over soon and there's nothing to worry about. I soon realize how ridiculous my exaggerated and irrational fear is, and calm down.
Most people I hear from now are finding success with online strategies to overcoming panic attacks. Many people are treating their anxiety attacks at home using an online guide or book, and having success with it. It all depends on the person. There's no sure-fire to completely overcoming panic attacks but you can certainly alleviate anxiety with some effort.
